#Icom ic 7800 firmware update update#
Instructions for installing the update are on that page along with a link to download the firmware. Click the link that reads "IC-7300" to go to the download page. Scroll further down the page to the section entitled "Firmware / Software" and there is a link under "Type" labeled "Firmware". It appears that there might be a couple of useful features in this release. On that page under the top section entitled "News" click the link that reads "IC-7300 Firmware was updated." and you can download the information sheet pertaining to the release and shows everything that was added/changed in the new version. Information and downloads can be found Here.

The T Index tracks with the F2 layer critical frequency (foF2) and sunspot number (SSN) and indicates the capability of the F2 layer to refract RF signals. A positive number is best.ġ1.) GENERAL GUIDELINES CONCERNING CORRELATION OF PROPAGATION INDICES TO ACTUAL HF PROPAGATION CONDITIONS-ġ.) Dropping geomagnetic field indices numbers are better, Kp of 0 best.Ģ.) A daily sunspot number of 150 or higher, 200 or higher best.ģ.) A daily sunspot number of greater than 100 for routine stable formation of the E Valley/F Layer ducting mechanism.Ĥ.) Previous 24 hour Ap index under 10, fewer than 7 for several days consecutively are best.ĥ.) Previous 3 hours Kp index fewer than 3 for mid latitude paths, fewer than 2 for high latitude paths, 0 for several days consecutively is best.Ħ.) Energetic protons no greater than 10 MeV (10+0).ħ.) Background x-ray flux levels greater than B1 for several days consecutively, greater than C1 best.ĩ.) Interplanetary magnetic field (IMF) Bz with a (positive number) sign, indicates a lesser chance of high latitude path aurora absorption/unpredictable refraction or scattering of medium frequency RF signals, when the Kp is above 3.ġ0.) A -20 or better towards a positive number Dst index during the recovery time after a geomagnetic storm, as related to the equatorial ring current. Remotely control the transceiver without needing a Base (server) PC. Transmission recording capability has been added also. The Voice Recording function recording time has been increased, and now can support SD memory cards. The USB connector now also accepts USB flash drives and/or a USB mouse. Waterfall screens, point-and-click mouse tuning operation, and other additional functions on the bandscope have been added.

New icom V3.0 Firmware adds 25 new functions to the IC-7800: Even if you've got one of those technically advanced SteppIR antennas, it alone won't eliminate signal fading (QSB). Two receivers means you can use two antennas to implement diversity reception when the signal fades in one antenna, it often peaks in the other.

The result is TWO identical receivers with 110dB dynamic range, +40dBm 3rd order intercept point, and unmatched Digital Signal Processor technology in the HF bands, something that has never been achieved in Ham radio! Simply put, iCOM has developed the ultimate Amateur HF transceiver. The iCOM IC-7800 transceiver is an artistic fusion of over 40 years analog RF circuit development expertise and cutting-edge digital technology. It is evident that I am very pleased to be holding one of theįirst pieces of electronic apparatus used to tune electromagnetic waves.Įlectronic technology has progressed significantly since 1907!
